Yes, the ponytail holders have an elastic band that is attached to the leather covering that goes around your hair and snaps to hold it in place. On the website http://www.dimannodesigns.com/, there is a "how to" page where you can see a picture of the inside of the pony.

Depending on the thickness of your hair will determine how many times you twirl the elastic around before you snap the leather covering together. I twirl mine 3 times for a nice tight ponytail. Hope this helps! Have a good evening, Stefany
