Who says you can't mix business with pleasure? It worked out fabulously for Di Manno Designs! In April, my family and I celebrated my mom's birthday in Hawaii. One day after brunch we walked into a few stores in this shopping village in Kauai and my sister and her fiance Buddy ended up getting a few things at this boutique called Honolua Surf Co. Cute boutique, loved the look, feel and the merchandise! I envisioned the new DD by Di Manno Designs line in there, started thinking the Gator and Patent collections would be a great fit in the store. Accessories Council Event/Doneger Presentation

It was that time again for Accessories Council Event/ David Wolfe's presentation (at the Doneger Group) of the Fall 2011 Runway shows and all the trends of the season. Wanted to give a recap on David's review of some of the trends he noticed. He said he thought this fashion season was the best he has seen in decades! He likes how "grown up clothes" are back in style, matching suits along with "lady-like dresses" with high necklines and sleeves. He particularly liked Ralph Lauren's accessories which had a vintage-asian inspiration and Lanvin's necklaces, which looked like "art to wear." Necklaces aren't as big and bold and wrist cuffs are still very popular. He saw modern lines in the dresses and romantic jewelry popular coming back from the past. Long gloves are still in style and crazy looking shoes that look very uncomfortable were still on the runway, which David mentioned he wasn't thrilled to see! And socks being paired not only with boots, but with heels! Other items he saw on the runway are tuxedos, couture coats, capes and tunics.

As far as fabric, a lot of heavy weight fabric, leather, wool and fur. A lot of fur accessories! Jean Paul Gautier even designed a rolling suit case that had fur trim! Python is still very in, not just natural, but bold bright colors. Looks like Di Manno Designs is right on target with the new DD line, which includes yellow and orange python (imitation) ponytail holders and headbands. He saw a lot of bright colors, hot pink, citrus orange, lemon yellow, red, blue and a lot of green accessories especially. He noticed the handbags are simpler, not so big and studded, cleaner lines and more subtle. Drapery is still out, but more subtle and dresses that are straight down and
"not so tight"are back.

He also started with saying that he would pick Chado Ralph Rucci to design for Dior and couldn't quite understand the candidates that have been mentioned in the press! As time unfolds, we shall see who gets the job...

David's presentations are fun and informative, always great to get so many good visuals of what the trends are for the season paired with a great delivery!

Wendy Robbin's Six Secrets to Sell a Product

I met Wendy Robbins when I taped the episode of Homemade Millionaire in which Di Manno Designs ponytail holders were featured as the invention on the premiere episode which aired on TLC. Wendy was the coach on the show who helped us with our product after the focus group competition and coached the 2 ladies who remained on the episode to prepare them for HSN. Wendy went from 10,000 in debt to making millions after selling her invention, the Tingler on HSN. She now coaches as well to help others get their products selling mass! Love Wendy's energy! Love her optimistic, positive and upbeat personality!

Wendy and I reconnected when we appeared on the WB 11 PIX news to promote Homemade Millionaire. Learned about the book she just wrote, Why Marry a Millionaire? Just Be One!, read it and now would like to share some tips Wendy teaches in her free coaching videos.

Her six secrets to sell a product to anyone are:

1. Create rapport

Ask questions and maintain eye contact with who you are selling to. Be personable.

2. Create a headline that describes your product. "Think like Twitter," she says and fill in the blank. My product is a better way to___. Short and to the point!

3. The Industry. "How Big?"

Figure out the problem and how many people need your product. You can google "free keyword search" and check to see how many people are searching for your product.

4. Your Product-the unique solution.

Why is your product unique, what sets it aside from what is already out there.

5. Demo

Create an effective demo for your product. Demonstrate how quick and easy it is to use.

6. Sale

Don't be afraid to ask people to buy your product. Let people know WHY they should buy!

Ruth, one of Di Manno Designs interns, wanted to interview me about my experience with being on TLC's Homemade Millionaire. I thought it was a good idea and so here it is...

How did the process of appearing on Homemade Millionaire come about?
My friend Juan actually told me about the casting call they were having, and I almost didn’t go because I did not want to be on a reality show, but when I thought about all the effort, money and time I have put into Di Manno Designs, I decided I owed it to the company to go because it could be a good opportunity.

What was the first thought that came to mind when you found out that they were interested in Di Manno Designs?
I was so happy and excited to be able to be part of the show! I was also shocked because when I went to the audition, I knew the odds of actually booking it, so I wasn’t expecting that! I was just thinking it was a good exercise for me to go through and good to also get my product in front of the casting agents/producers. And I was relieved because they had me on hold from December until March. I auditioned in August, was called in December to be “on hold” and in March was booked to be on it and we started taping shortly after.

How was your experience on the show? What word/s would you use to explain or express it?
With one word, NERVE RACKING!!! They wouldn’t tell us ANYTHNG about what we would be doing on the show, we found out that day right before we had to do something so I had to think on my feet. I felt like one big ball of anxiety! I like when I have time to prepare and practice, but on this show, that wasn’t the agenda while making it. Working with Kelly was great though, she is so kind, caring and humble. She was cracking jokes to break the ice and make us feel comfortable. At one point she even apologized for getting her lines wrong, saying we deserved better! I was like, uhhmm…if it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t even be here! LOL It was refreshing to see her, a celebrity, so down to earth and genuine. It was also great to meet Wendy Robbins, who was also on the show, who invented the Tingler! Always inspiring to meet people who have so much passion and are successful. I liked the fact she was so positive and upbeat. Even after being eliminated, she told me to never stop at no for an answer and encouraged me to keep trying to open doors and get my product out there. Take advantage of all opportunities! Was great to hear that at that moment. After all, one door closes and another opens...:)

How do you think the show will add on to the success of Di Manno designs?
I am hoping it will open doors for my company. I am looking for mass production. I think regardless, the press is good because it shows people that the product has potential and that there is something special about Di Manno Designs for it to be chosen out of thousands of contestants to be on an episode of the show. I see the potential it has to go mass, so it will be good when I have that mass selling platform to prove it!

What’s next for the company/ where do you see your product in a couple of years from now?
I see it selling mass on TV, on the web and in more retail stores in the US as well as overseas.

What can the customers of Di Manno Designs look forward to next?

Before I turned 30 years old, I decided to treat myself to long and luxurious hair and since then, haven't been able to stop! She told me they were addictive and she was right! And the good news is they are not bad for your hair, so you don't have to compromise tearing out your hair, like some of the other extensions out there do. I love the way those lovely locks look on my head and I love Michelle Cleveland, the woman behind making that magic happen. I was introduced to her through Maria Lacomme Salon and have been going to her since, or should say, she has been coming to me, as she comes to my apartment for our maintenance appointments every 2 months. Over the past 3 years, it has been truly a pleasure getting to know this beautiful woman. When we are together we have time to talk and that is what we do! She likes to listen to my crazy stories, she often says she lives vicariously through me, lol and I like to hear her thoughts and opinions. I respect her and what she stands for. She started doing copper lock extensions after working for another extension brand, that she saw was ruining people's hair. She couldn't bear to see that, so she turned to copper locks, to continue doing the work she loved, but doing it, knowing she wouldn't be responsible for ruining anyone's hair. She often talks about the integrity of your hair, she firmly believes in keeping it and won't do anything to jeopardize your hair. She follows her heart and her passion and has one of the biggest hearts I know, and that is what I love about her. She is real, down to earth and genuine. So for me, it has been like getting 2 treatments in one, getting the hair done and getting to spend time connecting with a friend! Another thing I love about Michelle is that she has been so supportive and has believed in me and Di Manno Designs from day one. She had and has nothing but positive things to say about my company ever since I first started it, which has been so inspiring. She touched me most when she came to the hotel and stayed overnight with me to prep my hair and did it in the morning before we started taping! You don't meet people like Michelle every day and that is why she is dear to me and in my heart. It feels good to see the people who stand behind you when starting a company, so thank you Michelle for that. I love you and keep up the good work! Roberto Gonzalez "the make up and hair artist"

Roberto and I go way back! Years ago we met, I was in the modeling industry, and he was my make up and hair artist for a JCPenney ad I did for Amercian Tourister. At the time we met at Michael Keel's studio for head shots I was getting done. He worked with Michael Keel and Bill Morris, 2 NYC photographers, who at the time shared a working space for years. We worked on other projects together as well and used to meet up in Hell's Kitchen for happy hour to catch up and just have a good time. Love him! He is fabulous and has a huge heart. A fellow LEO, we instantly connected! Always learn new little tips on how to do my hair from him. Am currently using a curling iron he gave me as a gift to curl my hair.:) Over the years, Roberto has done many different projects and has been booked consistently because he loves his craft and is simply good at it. It was so special to me that Roberto did my makeup for the TV show, considering we knew and worked together YEARS ago. It was nice to reconnect with him in a new light with a new project. Kelvin Gary, Passionate Personal Trainer at Equinox

Kelvin and I go WAY back! We met freshmen year of college at the University of Miami and quickly became friends. Kelvin is one of those people that has a kind disposition, easy to get a along with, genuine and is just one of those all around GOOD guys. He is the kind of guy that would be there to help you out of a bind. On a personal level, I will never forgot our inside bonding jokes from the stories we shared in college and one of our interesting excursions to South Beach! On a business level, I am impressed with his enthusiasm and admire his intelligence, drive and passion for life and doing what he loves to do, which is personal training. Kelvin has always been into fitness, one of the places I saw him most at University of Miami was the gym! When I first ran into Kelvin in NYC, it had been years since I had seen him, I was promoting some liquor, and at the time, he was working in finance at Pfizer and before that as an engineer at Merck. I had no doubt that he was great at these jobs, but when he decided to start doing work as a personal trainer, I was happy and so excited for him, because I feel this job fits him best. He is a natural at it, which I have seen just from knowing him at college. He was always consistent with his work outs and challenged himself each and every time he was at the gym. Now in less than 1 year of working as a personal trainer at Equinox, he has over 30 clients! His passion and knowledge in this field is paying off!

Here is my interview with Kelvin.

What inspired you to become a personal trainer?

My Inspiration came from a great piece of advice that was given to me by a mentor years ago. He told me that to really succeed, you have to do what you love and love what you do. After almost 10 years in the corporate world I woke up one day and asked myself if I was doing what I loved and loving what I was doing and the answer was no. At that time I had already gotten my personal training certification, because I thought it would help me with my own health and fitness. With the help of a few close friends and a really supportive wife, I started to put my certification to use training others. I quickly found that personal training was the right path for me. I’ve always seen myself as a motivator and someone who loved working with people in a positive way. I also loved the health and fitness field. Becoming a personal trainer was a perfect way for me to do what love and love what I do.

How many clients are you currently working with?

I currently work with over 30 clients, in both 1 on 1 and semi-private settings.

What do you think sets you aside from other trainers out there?

I like to think that there are a couple of things that set me aside from other trainers. If I had to choose I’d have to say my people skills and my attention to detail set me apart. I treat each of my clients with the utmost respect, no matter who they are. If they’re having a bad day I try my best to change that for them. I want my clients to leave sessions with me feeling like it was the best part of their day.

In regards to attention to detail, I feel that my background as an engineer helps me look at the human body for what it is, one of the most complicated pieces of machinery ever created. With that in mind I try to make sure that everything my clients do has a purpose and is specific to their goals. If they want to tone up and lose weight, I make sure their program is designed to get them there quickly and safely.

Would you say you have a niche?

At the moment my client base has a pretty broad range of goals. The number one goal of my clients is weight loss and body fat reduction and so far I’ve been pretty successful at that. My athletic background however has drawn me towards sports performance, so I would say that training athletes is my “niche”. I have runners, cyclist and multi-sport athletes as clients who I’ve helped get better through corrective exercise and functional strength training.

Do you incorporate any eating suggestions in the session?

Since I’m not a registered dietitian, I’m limited in the nutritional advice that I can give. With that in mind I do provide my clients with information on diet and nutrition within the scope of my certifications.

What is it like working with Equinox?

Working with Equinox has been a great experience. When it comes to health and fitness clubs you can’t ask for better facilities. The members are also really serious about their health and fitness which makes my job easier.

Why does your routine work so well for your clients? And also, do you customize routines according to the individual?

Every one of my clients has a program designed specifically with their needs and goals in mind. Their program takes into consideration any postural or movement issues they may have and their current health status. This is all information that I collect in my initial assessment of each client. If corrective exercise needs to be incorporated into our routine I start there so that I make sure they are in the right condition to get into shape. Said another way if my client has issues that if not corrected can lead to an injury, I address those issues as a part of their routine. If my clients are injured they can’t be in the gym with me working towards their goals.

Also some clients progress faster than others and need to be challenged accordingly. My view is that “If it’s too easy then it’s not for us”. With that in mind I definitely vary in the way challenge each client based on their skill level.

Lastly, I make sure I change my teaching style. Some people learn by doing, others learn by seeing and others learn by listening. The way I see it, it’s not my client’s responsibility to adapt to my teaching style, it’s my responsibility to adapt to the learning style of each client. That’s what allows us to get more done.

Where do you see yourself with personal training in the next 5 years?

Over the next 5 years I see myself becoming one of the top health and fitness professionals in New York City and eventually the Country. It’s a large order but I really love my job to I truly believe anything is possible.

Urban Interns, the Go To Site to Get Help

I was introduced to Urban Interns through Collective-E, the entrepreneur group I am a member of. Urban Interns is an online service for companies to find interns and for interns to find jobs. They have a database of interns looking for work, and as a company, you can post a job posting, that stays on their website for 1 month or for however long you are subscribed. Urban Interns is owned by Lauren Porat and Cari Sommer. I decided to try out their service last year and found my first intern for

Di Manno Designs right away! She worked out well, for months assisted me in research, lists and phone calls etc. This year, I signed up again and am happy to say that in my first week of being on Urban Interns, found an intern who is helping me out! I was very impressed with my intern's resume and experience. She is awesome! I have personally met Lauren at a Collective-E event and can say she is pleasant, professional and when you have a question about the site, it is sure to be answered promptly!:)

How did you come up with the idea for Urban Interns?

My business partner Cari Sommer and I started working on the idea for Urban Interns in the late summer 2008, so the world looked a lot different then. The recession was in full swing and full time hiring had come to a screeching halt, but we saw that companies were still looking for help to grow their businesses. But they were trending towards part time hires, interns and freelancers because of the inherent flexibility in this type of help. On the other side of the employment equation, job-seekers were increasingly looking for this type of work to build skill sets, build resumes, and get the phenomenal experience of working with start ups and small businesses. So we created Urban Interns to connect growing companies with people seeking part time jobs, internships and freelance positions – and the idea really took off.

What ways do you market your business?

To date, we’ve had phenomenal press (Fox Business News, WSJ, Crain’s, Inc. and most recently TechCrunch) and done a lot of social media marketing. We are frequently cited as experts on hiring-related topics, and we write a monthly column on hiring related topics for Entrepreneur.com. On the job-seeker side, we work closely with top tier universities to get the word out about our business. Going forward, we’ll be expanding our marketing efforts online.

In your experience, was it hard to get people to sign up and/or companies?

It’s really a no-brainer for both job seekers and employers to try Urban Interns. For job-seekers, it’s free to post your profile and your personal information is protected, so there’s no downside if you’re looking for a job. Employers pay to post on our site (consistent with most other job boards out there), but it’s a very affordable price for a small business - $39.95, which gives you one job post plus unlimited database access for 30 days – especially relative to the competition. Other job boards cost hundreds of dollars to post (and don’t give you database access), and Craig's List is cheap but can be spammy and is also not a database. Employers like having the ability to BOTH post AND search (or one or the other). So if you’re a growing company looking for an extra set of hands – which many are in the areas of social media, PR, email marketing, blogging, research, admin, etc. - it makes a lot of sense.

How many interns and/or companies are currently subscribed?

We have thousands of people in our database, but we don’t divulge more specifics than that.

Do you have any plans for growth or expansion in the near future?

Yes! We’re working on a fantastic relaunch with a new and improved look and feel, and better features and functionality, all to make the process of connecting that much easier. We’re really excited – stay tuned!

I am happy I was introduced to Urban Interns and am impressed with the level of professionalism and the caliber of people their site attracts! And of course I am most happy with all the hours of valuable help I am getting from my interns.:) My hope is that they are learning and gaining experience, which they can use in the future. Zumba with Jeannine at Club H Fitness

I just joined Club H Fitness and I have really been enjoying the Zumba class there with Jeannine. This is the first time I have ever heard or taken a Zumba class, apparently it is pretty big and is getting tons of press because it is so popular! I love it because Jeannine is amazing, it's fun to be in a class with her because she exudes such great positive energy!!! And those of us who take gym classes regularly know that the instructor can make or break the class and Jeannine definitely MAKES it! The music is awesome and it's fun to dance to it. Besides her great spirit, Jeannine's class is also popular because you can pretty easily pick up the moves, which makes it appeal to people on all different levels, even those who have never even taken a dance class. Zumba is Latin inspired dancing mixed with a little bit of hip hop and funk. It is a great cardio work out! You don't even realize that an hour goes by, because you are having so much fun! Also fun to watch her body move, she is so good! I am a big believer in maintaining good mental, spiritual and physical health. I think it is important to have a balance of all 3 to be healthy, have a focused mind and good spirit. When you do, a clear mind brings smart and innovative ideas, you attract positive energy and people because you feel good and a healthy body and good metabolism gives you the energy and stamina you need to run your business. I know when I am feeling mentally, spiritually and physically balanced, I am most productive, so I don't neglect any one! They all work together.:) If you work out at Club H, check her out and be ready to shake your hips! Although the classes are getting so crowded... think we will soon need to hold them in a bigger room...You rock Jeannine! Thanks for making working out fun:)

Friends are an Inspiration Source for your Company

Sometimes you don't have to go too far for inspiration. Some of your friends maybe be a source for your inspiration. My friend Tori is that for me and Di Manno Designs. We hung out today in NYC to bounce ideas off one another. He took me to some cool fabric stores in the garment center where he buys some of his fabrics for Toriola Designs. I found some great stuff that we are going to use for a new line Di Manno Designs will be coming out with soon. Tori makes his own pieces and offered to make me some samples of some of the pieces that will be in the new collection. Do friends get any better??? He has a talent to create dresses, shirts and accessories and I am lucky to be his friend:) He is teaching me that things can get done without spending a ton of money and for that I am thankful. Thanks Tori! I will be happy to reward him with part of the profit!:) We were getting so inspired in the stores, our minds were both filled with so many ideas we couldn't even voice all of them! lol After the stores we went to my manufacturer's office to see some of the new samples he has been working on. Sometimes I forget how important days like today are. It is not ALL about the phone calls and emails, your company needs a balance of all elements and today, the brainstorming and visuals were definitely needed to jump start the new line. Benefits of Being an Accessories Council Member

I first heard about Karen Giberson (President of the Accessories Council) and the Accessories Council through my dear friends and founders of Collective-E. I went in one day to meet with Karen and joined Accessories Council as a member. I place a high priority on networking and felt it was the right thing to do. I am so glad I did, Karen has helped me with some really important decisions with Di Manno Designs, I cannot thank her enough. I never even took 1 business course in college, so everything I have learned I have had to teach myself through other people's knowledge in webinars, classes, one on one's, networking events and simply just asking questions. You would be surprised just how much you can learn this way and it's free! So groups like Accessories Council and Collective-E have been very valuable to me starting my business. I've learned so much from them in the last 2 years.

You can never do enough networking and Accessories Council is an outlet where you can do just that. They have panels and events where you can go, listen, learn and meet all different types of people in the industry. Most events are free for members. I really enjoyed the Doneger Group presentation, hosted by the Accessories Council I attended, where they did an animated overview of trends for the season on the accessories and fashion industry. It was like a sneak peek preview of what was to come out in fashion, very cool! Great for brainstorming new lines! Collective-E and 85 Broads Giving Back Event

Yesterday evening I attended Collective-E and 85 Broad's Social Ventures and Celebrating Businesses that Give Back to the World event. It was yet another evening filled with intellect and inspiration! There was a panel with Beth Schoendfeldt of Collective-E as moderator, and the panelists included: Karen Chien, founder of Cheeky Living, Sharon Gaffney, who will soon be launching a new website, Michele Kotler, founding director of Community-Word Project and Susan McPherson, a board member of Bpeace.

Karen shared her story of how her business, Cheeky Living is positively affecting the lives of 160 people in Peru who help to work on her products of hand knit baby alpaca gloves, hats, scarves and throws through the skilled work of the weavers. It was touching to think of that many people having jobs there, who are less fortunate than we are, because of one US business! She could choose to manufacture her products anywhere, but yet, she feels content to know that good is coming out of the fact that Cheeky Living products are manufactured in Peru. Karen also helped to build an orphanage there with a donation from Cheeky Living sales!

Sharon is in the midst of launching a new website that offers consumers the ability to give back to their favorite causes quick and easy online... Stay tuned!

Michele shared how Community-Word Project, which is an organization that helps youth in the Arts in under served communities at NYC public schools, has helped over 10,000 youth to date! Every year they train 40-50 artists, each of who are given $1500.

Susan spoke of Bpeace, which is an organization dedicated to giving pro bono consulting to women entrepreneurs in regions of post conflict. Susan also helps with the marketing for Charity Water, an organization that builds water resources in countries that don't have access. Currently working at PR Newswire, she made a good point, to keep your message clear and concise with whatever organization you are going to give back to and/or start. This will help the cause all together, as people are extremely busy in their day to day lives. The more simple and clear the message is; the better the results you will get.

It was nice to hear of each of these stories, as they were all different, but shed light on all the different ways you and/or your business can give back. No matter whether you choose to give back to a small or large non for profit, the intention and energy you are sending will end with a positive result regardless. Some of the topics covered were about why people give back to the organizations they do and it almost always comes down to giving from a personal experience or something you are passionate about. I liked the quote Susan referred t0: "people protect what they love." This is so true and is how I feel exactly. I would like to give back with Di Manno Designs and will definitely do so, but I don't want to just give back to a cause that doesn't have much meaning to me. So this panel opened my mind up to how and what could be the cause and the way I could give back. And I liked the fact a "give back day" was brought up, which I think is a great way small companies can give back in an easy way, by writing a check to an organization with a percentage of sales from a particular day or time period. We also discussed the cynics out there, customers who question "where is the money going or how can I see my return on investment?" Unfortunately, in life there will always be cynics. What we can do is not let them hinder us from giving back, be honest about our story of why we are giving back, explain where the money is going and feel good that we are doing something good in this world!

Get Healed with Dar Gardol at Chelsea Healing

I met Dar, a close friend and the best acupuncturist I have known, when I lived in Chelsea. One day I wasn't feeling well and his office was next door to where I used to live, went in, got a treatment and ever since have been hooked on it and him! I never knew the many ways acupuncture can heal you, mentally and physically. It is truly amazing and I love learning about all the different points and what they do every time I see him. I loved that not only could Dar make me feel better, but I would learn so much during every treatment. He inspires me so much and has healed me so much! I really don't know where I would be without him. When I thought I was moving this June to San Diego, I started sobbing during a treatment saying, "What am I going to do without you?" and Dar said "Don't worry, I will come to San Diego and treat you there." And that is what I love about Dar, always doing what he can to please everybody, he is so generous. His ora is zen and he is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. Whenever I feel I am a bit under the weather, I get a treatment and take Yin Chiao for a couple of days, and so many times that has served as a remedy from getting sick! Love it! Dar and I bonded when one day when he was giving me a treatment. I was thinking of my daily routine in my head, at the time, I worked in an office and I pictured myself putting my hair back wearing a nice suit and/or dress and how much I hated wearing just an elastic band to hold my hair in a ponytail. It was then the concept of Di Manno Designs was born. I came up with the idea of making a leather covered ponytail holder with an elastic band attached.
I shared it with Dar and he was so inspired, we started to brainstorm together. We met a few times to go over concepts and ideas for the brand. He came up with Di Manno Designs and I liked it. At the time I was focusing on a name more specifically for ponytail holders, but I liked the fact that I wouldn't be limited to just ponytail holders under the name Di Manno Designs for future lines and I also liked the alliteration. Ever since we have been friends. I love being around his energy, because every time I am around him I feel so inspired and that is such a great feeling. It is so special to be treated by someone who is not only brilliant in his field, but such a kind spirit that is so pleasant to be around. I also go to Dar when I am feeling any physical pain, either in my back or once when I pulled a hamstring by jumping up and landing down in the splits when I was out dancing at night! lol The treatments he gave me sped up the recovery time! When my mom was in town, he treated her a few times, as her back and knees bother her and she swears by him! It was great, she was able to walk around NYC more at ease because the treatments helped her a great deal, so of course we were all happy.:) Since then she has seen an acupuncturist in South Carolina, where my parents live, and said he is nowhere near as good as Dar! Dar said when he is out that way, he will stop by and give her a treatment. She can't wait!
So needless to say, I highly recommend Dar for whatever ailment you may have or just to maintain good health, I'm sure he will make you feel better than you did before you walked in. Thank you Dar for teaching me, inspiring me, supporting me and Di Manno Designs and healing me. Love you!:)

Tori with Toriola, a Very Dear Friend and Entrepreneur

I am ecstatic to say that one of my best friends, Tori just launched his own line, Toriola (In the picture above, Tori is sewing the skirt I wore in the picture below.) In the other picture are 2 of his pieces he designed and made, on the right, I am wearing a Toriola wrap skirt, which can also be worn as a dress. I paired it with a white button down, but can also wear it with a black halter or tank top, the designer and stylist Tori is in the middle and Vanessa on the left is wearing a Toriola wrap dress.

Born in the USA, but raised in Nigeria, Tori came back to the USA to attend college in Maryland. Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in International Business with a minor in Economics. While he was in college, he started working at American Eagle as a sales associate before he was promoted to Visual Specialist. An opportunity presented itself for him to open American Eagle's first urban store in NYC, he took it and has been in NYC ever since. He worked at American Eagle for about 10 years leaving with the title Regional Visual Manager for the New York Metro Area.

After American Eagle, Tori worked as the Senior Visual Merchandising Manager/Visual Director of Victoria Secret, where he was in charge of flagship development and branding. He also hosted all the successful events with the Victoria Secret super models that were televised.

While working, Tori began styling photo shoots on the side for fun and simply because it comes natural to him. For years he has been creatively dressing displays, why not transition to dressing models for photo shoots, especially when they were asking him to do so?! So he did, he does and he enjoys it so much he wanted to brand himself as an entrepreneur who can freelance as a stylist, visual merchant and designer of Toriola fashion, which brings him back to his roots, adding a flare to Nigerian fashion.

He styled the shoot we did for Di Manno Designs fashion accessories. He picked out every one's outfits and accessories for the shoot. The group shot Tori styled is on the contact page of http://www.dimannodesigns.com/contact.htm.

A man of many talents, he also does beautiful memory books. (pictures above of a book he did for a friend's wedding) I already signed him up to do mine when I get married!:) I went to an event he was hosting at Victoria Secret and saw a concept book he had made for them, which was out on a table for customers to look at. It was so unique and creative with magazine cut outs, fabrics, trinkets and more to show different themes and trends. It was truly one of a kind, I was blown away and then started seeing dollar signs of him selling these books for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays etc! lol My mind was spinning with all these different ideas of him making these special books for people and starting his own business! On a personal level, I met Tori through our mutual friend Vanessa (in the picture above with Tori and I and also in the picture above in a Toriola top made by Tori). I instantly adored his bubbly, loving, charismatic, fun, genuine character and his edgy sense of style. Getting to know him over the years, I can now say that I also respect what he stands for and his morals, his strength of character, his perspective on life and his zest for life. He has been a true inspiration in my life in every sense of the word, as a person, through his work, spiritually and as my friend. I feel truly blessed to have him in my life.

I am so happy he started his own company! I saw his potential long ago and wished he would branch off on his own with all of his talent and personality. I can't say this about too many people, but with Tori, I knew he could handle the challenge, had the talent and most importantly is a good honest person, who is loved by many, who I know will succeed. So hats off to you Toriola Famuyiwa, it is your time to shine as an entrepreneur, just like you have as my best friend. Love you:)

Luxury Marketing Council Event for Giorgi Gucci's New Launch and Nirali Shah Pop Up Shop Party Night

I started off the evening by meeting my friend Erik Tancun of Imperial Jets at a Luxury Marketing Council Event. The event was a preview of the launch party for Emperor's Brand, which is a new line of collectible cognacs and vodkas owned by Zina Mashin and Andre De Vickont in partnership with Giorgio Gucci, grandson of Guccio Gucci, founder of the Gucci brand.

We tried and drank the Imperial Vodka with mixers, which was smooth and did not give a headache the day after! There was also a collection of wines that were being sampled and a presentation on the black tie event for the Emperor Brand launch, which will be in both Washington DC and NYC. Mingled before and after presentation, then headed to the Nirali Shah pop up shop party in a loft in Tribeca. Really fun, open bar, models walking around with all the different fashion pieces and accessories being sold here from different vendors. Met up with friends (in the picture) who also came to the event. In the picture above to the left: Sabina Ptacin of Collective-E and Red Branch PR, me, Tori of Toriola (also a stylist), Brian, Vanessa and Michael Quinlan of Red Branch PR. Sally at Kent House for Presentation Boxes, Packaging and More

One morning last year, bright and early, I attended my friend Lori's BNI (Business Networking group)marketing meeting at 7:15 am as a guest. I met Sally, owner of Kent House, which is a company that makes gift items, display boxes, packaging, photo albums and more. I needed a house for my ponytail holders, so decided to go meet Sally at her office in Chelsea to see if she could do presentation boxes for me, which I could take to meetings to show my accessories. At the time, I was using a black leather box with a Di Manno Designs logo on the outside, but all the accessories were just in the box and I felt I could use something that was more organized and looked better! Sally can pretty much do anything you would like, she does custom orders all the time, so I told her what I was looking for and together we came up with the idea of these 2 boxes to hold the ponies. The pictures don't do the boxes justice, because you miss some great details. I will try my best with a written description! The black box holds Di Manno Designs leather, patent leather, exotic skin and canvas collections. There is also a space with a box which now holds business cards, but if I would like, I could use that space for another future collection. (Sally made the box this way with that as the intention) Inside each division, there is different fabric to match the look and feel of the different collections, for the leather I chose a white canvas material, the patent sits on a red felt fabric, the canvas is on a creme canvas material and the exotic skin sits on a black velvet fabric and the material on the box itself is black python print. Sally made a pouch on the inside to hold the pouches with logos for display. I wanted everything together, so when in meetings, if a buyer wants to see packaging, I could show him/her the pouches as a suggestion. The white box houses Di Manno Designs crystal collection made with Crystallized-Swarovski Elements. I chose a gray felt fabric for the interior to mesh well with the crystals and the outside of the box is a white python print. We also included Swarovski's Crystallized logo in the box since the complete crystal collection is made with Crystallized-Swarovski Elements. We had the Di Manno Designs logo made into a stamp that Sally could use to stamp the boxes with the logo. We went with gold for the black box and silver for the white box. Sally is very creative and passionate about her work. When you see her in action in her space, you can see she pours her whole heart and soul into her company, which makes you feel comfortable knowing this woman is going to create something unique and special for your brand! So if you are looking for packaging, display boxes or anything original, I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the results at Kent House!

Interview With Printed Scarf Designer, Sabina Les

Over the past few months, I've gotten to know Sabina Les, the woman who designs fabulous scarves, really well. We are both Collective-E and Accessories Council members and are at a lot of the same events together, so eventually we started talking at one of the events, and discovered we live nearby each other and have been close since! She gave me great styling tips when she showed me all the different ways I could wear my Sabina Les scarf...I was impressed! I wanted to take the time to ask her a few questions that you may be interested in hearing the answers to.

What made you decide to get into the scarf business?

I wanted to have an accessory line for a long time, something I could relate to. Scarves were a perfect choice because I'm a big fan and I couldn't find prints that I liked. With that in my mind, my designs have distinguished elegant, artistic and graphic personality.

Do you plan on adding any other lines?

Yes, I'm planning on expanding into other accessories starting with bags. Also, I'm collaborating with other designers.

How did you get on the Today Show?

I was doing my own PR and did a research on stylists. I "cold emailed" a fashion stylist pitching my scarves. Lucky for me, she emailed me back right away saying that she was looking for interesting scarves for the Today Show's fashion segment with the In Style magazine. She loved my scarves and asked for a few styles. About a week later, my scarf was on TV.

What were you working on previously and is it helping you now with your business?

I developed textile prints, branding, worked in merchandising and fashion design for some of the largest companies in the industry. Combining this experience with understanding of production process really helped me to stay on track with designing my own line and understanding that there is a lot of nitty-gritty details involved, sometimes more work than glamour!:)

Di Manno Designs Zebra Headband Appears on Ugly Betty

I was watching an episode that I DVR of Ugly Betty one night and in the last scene noticed that Betty was wearing a Di Manno Designs Zebra Headband! I was so excited! I knew there was a chance that my accessories could appear on the show so I was watching out for it. My sister Angela was home with me watching it as well and said "this is a special moment" after seeing the look on my face when I actually saw the Zebra headband on Betty after it had been months since I sent the accessories to ABC. I called ABC just to confirm and sure enough it was a Di Manno Designs headband:) I was glad that one of the accessories made its way on an episode before the show goes off the air, which I believe is after this season. Don't know why, my friends and I watch and love this show! My mom and dad are also bummed that it is going off the air! Please don't take Ugly Betty off the Air ABC!

Another Way to Wear Your Pony; Lauren Conrad's Low Side Ponytail Look

Don't forget about all the different ponytail hairstyles you can do! In this picture Lauren Conrad is sporting a low side ponytail with soft curls with a chic white dress. The low side pony is a great way to wear your hair with elegant attire. I like the fact that it shows some hair from the front, but is not all down, making your facial features stand out and the soft curls add a touch of romanticism to the look. The other thing that is great about wearing your hair in a ponytail is once you are done doing your hair, there is no more fussing with it all night! Alexander McQueen, Style Legend of Our Time

This week we heard the tragic news of the designer Alexander McQueen found dead at 40 years of old at his home in London. This comes as a shock to the fashion world who embraced his brilliance and to all those who simply just loved his clothes, like me. I remember going into the Alexander McQueen store in the Meatpacking District, NYC and just was in awe of all the fashion works of art around me. I can't remember the last time I was in a store wanting every single piece in it!!! That is when I knew I loved his work; his sense of fashion. His designs were so bold, edgy and daring, but yet so tailored, feminine and sexy. I like the fact that when you wear his clothes, you know you will be making a statement! I respect him as a person and a designer because he didn't follow the norm, if anything went against it. I admire his strength and confidence to follow his dreams, make them real and not conform to the norm. I think that is why he has the following he does, because his clothes aren't boring and plain, they are extravagant and unique. I think people like to stand out in a crowd and Alexander McQueen clothes let you! I have a pair of Alexander McQueen black rimmed cat eye glasses. Funny, when I picked them out at the counter, I didn't know they were his brand. I am not really a label girl, I just like to wear what I like. But when I read the label, I thought, now I know why I like them!!!

So sad to see such an extreme talent leave this world at such a young age. But in his time here he managed to be named British Designer of the Year--- four times, named International Designer of the Year at the Council of Fashion Year Awards, was chief designer of Givenchy, creative director of Gucci Group, had Alexander McQueen boutiques in New York, London, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Milan, collaborated with Puma on a line of trainers for the brand and was the first designer to participate in MAC's promotion of cosmetic releases created by fashion designers.

He was quoted in LOVE magazine saying, "I'm 40 now, but I want this to be a company that lives way beyond me, and I believe that customers are more important to making that happen then press. When I am dead, hopefully this house will still be going. On a spaceship. Hopping up and down above Earth."

I am sure the Alexander McQueen brand will live on and continue to inspire designers and people for many years to come.:) Thank you for that Alexander, may you rest in peace.

Being a Private Jet Flight Attendant, Another Source of Inspiration for Di Manno Designs

Ever since I was little, I always had a passion for travelling. And now that I have my own company, Di Manno Designs, I am constantly thinking of ways to improve or to add to it. Recently, I decided with my passion for travelling and the ideas and inspiration it would bring to me, becoming a private jet flight attendant would be ideal for me now. I realized how much I learned and experienced when I travelled in the past and thought that the aviation industry could bring me some great concepts and ideas with trips to new places for new lines and new business for Di Manno Designs. And of course the fact that I love people helped in the decision making process as well, since taking care of the clients on the jet is one of the most important jobs to tend to when flying. The job itself is not hard if you are a people person and good in the service industry, of course as in any industry, there are things to learn when starting out, but if you have a good crew, they will train and teach you. And the rest is up to you and maybe a higher power...and/or destiny...:) My very first few flights, I was trained by Damon Danneker, who is chief pilot at ARI Jets and was kind enough to spend extra time with me teaching me the business. Good for me that he is very patient and thorough! In this picture above, I am with Greg Delp, a pilot with ARI Jets who I just flew a few trips with. He has been in the business many years and is also a flight instructor, so I couldn't have gotten luckier learning the ins and the outs of the business with him on these trips! With Damon and Greg, I feel I am getting some good training! I am looking forward to learning and being inspired by different places and sharing them with you. Stay tuned!

2.Pull a 1/2 inch section of hair from the right section and add it to the left section.

3.Repeat with a piece from the left section adding it to the right section.

After sending out quite a few celebrity packages and hearing no response, it was a great feeling to hear a response from a celeb and a positive one in a hand written letter!:) I've watched Dakota in movies over the years and always admired her acting skills. Christian City Church, C3, Another Place to be Inspired

About 2 years ago, my friend Adam (in the picture with me) brought me to C3 church. Ever since then, I have continued to go to their service because every time I do I am inspired. I was raised Catholic, of course, from 2 Italian immigrants, and I enjoy the Catholic Church, but always got the most out of the homily, so when I was introduced to C3, besides the music and offering, it is like one long homily. I get so much out of the messages! I am not concerned with denominations, I just want to go where ever I feel good and getting the most out of the messages, which will in turn, make me a better person.:)

This event, in the pictures, was to celebrate C3's 10th anniversary in Manhattan with a live painting show by Phil Pringle, who is the pastor of the C3 Church in Australia. It was exciting, the first time I have ever seen someone paint a whole painting live! It was quite amazing!

Stephen Hickson (in the picture above) is our pastor at C3 Manhattan, he is great! A native Australian, he is funny, charismatic and one of the best guys I know AND his messages are so powerful. There are 2 Sunday services, 11:00am and 6:00pm held at 242 West 41st in the Times Center in the auditorium.

I always walk away from service feeling good. And that's a beautiful thing!:)

Peter Shankman's (with HARO) Speech at New York Entrepreneur Week

This week is New York Entrepreneur Week, which is a week long event filled with different influential speakers and panel discussions every day. This morning I attended Peter Shankman's speech. It was amazing and he is HILARIOUS!!! Love a guy who can make you laugh at 9:00am! And the whole room was laughing with me! Peter Shankman is the founder of HARO (Help a Reporter Out), which he formed to connect journalists to entrepreneurs and designers, by using a system of sending 3 emails out a day that lists different categories such as; Urgent, Business and Finance, General, Health and Fitness, Lifestyle, Technology and Travel. So as you can see there are many different categories from where many different types of reporters, bloggers, editors and designers, experts and all different types of entrepreneurs can benefit from, simply by being connected! If you fit the bill for the story, you apply and you have the potential to get press. And it's free! I was introduced to HARO months ago and since then read every email he sends out and have gotten a few different write ups on Di Manno Designs from it! It works! Peter has been successful in building HARO. What he built for fun in the beginning, now has over 100,000 members. Congrats Peter!

In his speech he shared 4 rules which he lives and operates HARO by:

#1 Transparency

This is the idea that you shouldn't be afraid to let your audience know when you screw up. If you really listen to your audience, your customers, you can make valuable changes when needed to help your company grow in a positive way.

#2"Ask Them"

Don't be hesitant to ask your audience HOW they would like to receive their information. This is effective because they will get your information in a form they are most comfortable receiving it and it could save you money. For example, if someone prefers email over mail, you save yourself postage that would be wasted since that item would be tossed out if it went to a customer who doesn't read his/her mail.

#Learn to Write

This is key because in today's world everyone is so busy and getting information from so many different mediums, it is important when trying to get a person's attention to be concise and clear with what you write. If you have a question, don't beat around the bush, ask it, or maybe it is a clever title to use in the subject line of your email to assure that that person will not only open it, but read it. Peter says, "Brevity equals good writing."

#4 Be Present in People's Minds

This concept is to stay in touch with people through Facebook and Twitter etc, but not just when you want or need something. This can turn a person off, who may be someone you could potentially be doing business with. Make it a point to reach out to them JUST BECAUSE and it will build your relationship with them in a way that just by staying in touch, you will be remembered, which is key, because being memorable can definitely bring more business to you!

I loved what he said in the beginning, "If you strive for mediocracy, you become just like everyone else." So inspiring, because I think behind every great company, is a strong leader, a risk taker who likes to go against the norm, and by doing so, he or she can be very well rewarded. And hopefully that person is also a good person, with a good heart to also touch and inspire the lives of those around him or her through their journey.

Fashion Group International's Presentation and Panel Discussion with Donna Karan as Moderator

Today I attended Fashion Group International's presentation and panel discussion on Spring/Summer 2010 Trend Overview with Sabina Les, (a fabulous silk scarf designer), my new buddy, who is my neighbor and also a member of Collective-E. Donna Karan was the special guest moderator and on the panel was Lincoln Moore, VP of Handbags and Accessories at Saks Fifth Avenue, Linda Fargo, SVP of Bergdorf Goodman, Jane Larkworthy, Beauty Director at W Magazine, Ikram Goldman of Ikram boutique in Chicago, (who also dresses Michelle Obama) and Candy Pratts Price, Executive Fashion Director of Style.com.

To start, Donna asked the question, "What is the designer's role in retail stores?" Lincoln said that what helps his Saks customers are designers that are active and go to the store and speak to their customers. It makes the customer feel better when he/she has that personal relationship with the designer and also understands the value of what he/she is buying.

Ikram also added that it is important when the designer (if they are present) and sales staff talk about the fabrics and the cost and help the customer understand and learn why he/she is spending the money they are on one outfit and to also remind them it is a "buy now, wear forever!"

Donna also addressed the problems designers are facing with all the mark downs at the stores and the impact it is having on the luxury goods market. Linda said that what they have been doing at Bergdorf is buying less of each item, "less is more," she said. This helps to put the value back into luxury, if there aren't so many items, it makes the item appear more special and it will cut down the mark downs. Candy also agreed that less is more and she also added that it helps when the stores "entertain their customers." Customers want to hear the story and want that personal relationship. I completely agree with this. I am more likely to buy at places where I either know the designer, or believe and/or admire his/her story or have a relationship with a salesperson at a store. It is pleasant and it feels good, I think everyone wants to do what makes them feel good... Why not?

Donna also touched base on how there is too much information out there and how it is affecting the customers and the stores. Ikram agreed with Donna that there is a downside to "too much information" because an item loses it's luster when it is spoken about and seen too much in the press and in turn, the customer doesn't want to buy it, because he/she is over the item!

She says she gives her customers "surprises" to combat this problem. Surprises like offering items that weren't shown on the runway. She also mentions she has been very fortunate in this aspect because designers have been willing to work with her to create these pieces for her customers. Lincoln added that he agrees with Ikram and it is harder for Saks to have that kind of relationship with their customer because they are bigger and have a wider range of customers. Lincoln said "it is a double-edged sword because customers want what is on the runway that second and they can't get it." So this can be troublesome with sales because the customer wants what they saw in the fashion show and not what is out on the floor. He combats this problem by "re training" his staff to speak to customers on the value of the product rather than focusing on the brand.

Linda pointed out one advantage of having "too much information" is that it has brought in people globally all over the world to her store. Linda also said she doesn't think it is going to change, but on a positive note said that about 70% of their business is done on pre collections, meaning that they buy and sell pieces from designers that are not in the fashion shows. She says these items have a natural sell through, don't have to go on sale and she is happy that the designers don't have the pressure of performance on the pre collection items, as they do with the runway pieces. Donna, of course, mentioned she loved selling pre collection for this very reason! Donna said the pre collection items have a longer shelf life and sell more because people aren't sick of it!

The overall consensus for the Spring/Summer 2010 lines is that they are going to do very well. Linda felt there were enough compelling trends to discuss with customers, Lincoln was thrilled with it and Ikram feels that there is a "notion of a dream with the lines, no longer dressing to kill, but dressing to be beautiful."

One key point that Jane Lankworthy mentioned, (when Donna asked about how are "we" supposed to feel good about wearing these clothes we see on the runway, when we are not those models on the runway) is that beauty comes from within, no matter what outfit we have on. It is the way we feel about ourselves. I completely agree with this, I think WE wear the outfit. No matter what fabric, style or designer you may be wearing, if your attitude and energy isn't exuding goodness, the outfit alone doesn't have the power to make you shine.

So, as you can see, I learned a lot today from this panel discussion, which was very insightful!

Saks Fifth Avenue Event, Live the Life You Love

Yesterday evening I went to the Live the Life You Love Event at Saks Fifth Avenue, NYC, presented by SingleEdition.com and Spark Networks. It was fun, complimentary cocktails (even though the wait staff did not know what liquor it was, they were tasty and refreshing! lol), manicures, makeup applications by Estee Lauder, seaweed soap and coupons to Vitamin Shoppe and gift bags!

Beth Schoenfeldt, one of the owners of Collective-E spoke as the business and start up advisor, hence the reason I was there! The other speakers were Alyson D'Anna as a career coach, Karine Bakhoum as the entertaining and food expert and Brad Berkowitz as the love and relationship expert.

The theme was for single women , encouraging them that they can start up a business alone, they can cook gourmet meals for themselves, a reminder of what to be careful of in the work place as a single woman and advice on where to go if you are single to meet a guy.

Beth spoke about taking advantage of the extra time you have when you are single, because once you have children, if you intend to do so, your life changes and you will not have the extra time off to get more work in. She also reminded us to "start with the end in mind," meaning to know where you want your business to end up, even if you don't have a a business plan, and to start thinking of whether selling your business may or may not be an option, but just knowing gives you peace of mind and will help you to grow your business effectively with that strategy, whatever that may be. She also said it helps when an entrepreneur is "hungry," which translates to not waiting or depending on a man to come along and start or support your business. We women can do it on our own! And from what she has seen, entrepreneurs end up being more successful when they are "hungry!"

Alyson spoke about being single in the workplace and being conscious of the consequences of getting romantically involved with your boss and/or co workers. She also spoke about the importance of having a mentor. She sees that men tend to have mentors more than women and she encourages women to go out and find a mentor because they can be very instrumental in the success of your business.

Karine spoke about a few different delicious recipes that don't take long to make, but reminded us that frozen dinners aren't the best thing for us to be putting into our bodies! She encouraged us to treat our self and that we can buy single portions at the grocery store, so if we feel like a filet mignon, buy a filet mignon, stick a potato in the oven, make a simple salad on the side and have a gourmet meal, even if it is only you eating! We should be cooking gourmet for ourselves while single, because we are number one! She also commented, if you have a dinner party, maybe you will not want to go with the filet mignon for a party of 8!

Brad spoke about trying new things, not to become creature of habits, because that sometimes is the reason of why single women are not meeting men. Don't always go to the same restaurant and if a guy doesn't call within a few days, he is not interested, move on, don't dwell and analyze! He reminded us, if there is a game in the evening, good guess that a lot of men will be there watching the game, find a friend, go to a bar to watch the game and your chances of meeting Mr. Right will be better than you just staying in watching TV by yourself!

Today Di Manno Designs Black Silver Studded and Black Large Crystal and White Brass Studded Wrist Cuff and Black Silver Studded Headband were featured on WPIX 11 Morning News! To think that not even 2 years ago I was just thinking of the concept and today I was watching them on TV. What a great feeling! The segment, hosted by Michelle Madhok, founder of She Finds.com and Tamsen Fadal of WPIX 11, was about vampire-inspired items for Halloween. Tamsen pointed out that Di Manno Designs cuffs are not only for women, they are for men too. "Vampy" accessories are in this season with shows and movies out like Twilight and Vampire Diaries. Michelle mentions that "Vamp" is probably in due to the history of Vampires and the romanticism associated with them.

Di Manno Designs Accessories Are Not Only for the Young

My mom and dad came to NYC to visit my sister and I (mom, Ange and dad are in the picture shown above) in October. I was surprised when my mom asked me if she could wear a headband! Of course I said yes:) One day she wore a Di Manno Designs Black Leather basic headband (shown in the picture above) when we went for a stroll around Herald Square to do some shopping. Yesterday evening I attended Seize Sur Vingt's store opening party at 78 Greene Street in Soho sponsored by Rolling Stone. James and Gwendolyn Jurney founded Seize Sur Vingt in 1998, which is a finely tailored clothing company for men and women. They are known for their premium quality shirts and suits made with blends using Egyptian cottons, wool, cashmere and linen. You can also find shoes, sportswear and accessories at their store. It's no wonder that their production comes from family-owned and operated workshops in Italy, Portugal and England! If you need a suit custom tailored, they have a tailor who works on site to get the job done! Everything is high scale in this shop from the top quality fabrics they use to their impeccable customer service.

They relocated from their Nolita posts at 243 and 267 Elizabeth street, which they were at for years. They wanted a larger space to combine both of their concepts: Groupe and Seize Sur Vingt. Party was very fun with a cool mix of creative people and the drinks were yummy. Chopin Vodka was offered and a rum that they were mixing with cider to make cocktails. Food was being passed and James and Gwen were busy talking with all the guests in between interviews with TV stations. Happy for them that they can now sit back, relax and celebrate their new home for Seize Sur Vingt and Groupe!:) They also have a store in the Plaza Hotel.

Justin Brown with Aarrow Advertising was seen spinning this Di Manno Designs sign in front of the Mercedes Benz fashion tent in Bryant Park during Sept fashion week in NYC.
This type of marketing is known as guerilla marketing and can be very effective to market a company, especially in a heavily populated location like this one in NYC with a fashion event going on at the same time! On one side of the sign was a Di Manno Designs ponytail holder picture and on the other side was a Di Manno Designs headband and wrist cuff shot with my logo on both sides. I am wearing a Di Manno Designs black brass studded headband and matching wristband in this picture and Justin is wearing his favorite Di Manno Designs accessory, the white large crystal wristband.
Aarrow Advertising is the world's largest guerilla marketing franchise, which was launched in 2002. The famous "Aarrow Sign Spinners" perform in many different US cities as well as different countries around the world. Justin Brown in this picture and video was Di Manno Designs sign spinner. At every red traffic light, he would run out into the street and spin the sign, showing us all his tricks he has learned over the years. He is great!:)
I like the fact that this form of advertising reaches so many people in such a short period of time.
I also like that it immediately grabs peoples' attention and is unique and memorable. I think people tend to remember this type of marketing, because it is so visual and different than the traditional flier hand outs in the streets. Renaissance Hotel Launch Party, NYC

Thursday Sept 17th Renaissance Hotel had their launch party at their new spot at 130 East 57th Street in NYC. The decor is very cozy and chic at the same time, which I really like. I remember when this building was the Habitat Hotel a few years ago, which was a hotel with discounted rates, where you shared a communal bathroom on each floor! I stayed there before I even lived in NYC when I was looking for apartments here. It has come a long way since those days! The party had different floors, the 2nd floor had an Absolut party room and separate lounge/bar, which later in the evening held a spectacular piano performance. After the crowd mingled for awhile on the 2nd floor, they made their way to the 17th floor where there were a couple of penthouses with balconies/terraces, one which held an auction and a VIP/dessert and champagne room, which always makes everyone happy.:) For musical entertainment, Mr Hudson performed outside on the terrace on the 17th floor. Relevant produced the event and Soza Models had models working the event.

As far as celebrity spottings, Brooke Shields, Chace Crawford and Penn Badgley hung out for awhile at the party among other actors and actresses.

The charity was linked to KIVA.org, which is a philanthropy organization that enables individuals to make loans to low income entrepreneurs around the globe. Proceeds from the silent auction are going towards empowering women entrepreneurs in honor of Renaissance Hotel 57's beginnings as a hotel for women and later as a shelter for women. What a beautiful purpose! :)

Everyone was dressed to impressed, and I must say I really felt the urge to hand out Di Manno Designs ponytail holders to the elegant ladies I saw in their beautiful evening wear with their hair back in a ponytail with an elastic band! I couldn't help but envision how much better their dresses would look with a chic pony covering up that elastic band in their hair! There was one woman with a tan lace tailored dress, in which I thought the tan patent ponytail holder would have polished off her slicked back ponytail look and another woman in a silk black flowy short dress, in which I thought the black patent, python, zebra or the black crystal covered ponytail holder would have given the outfit that finishing touch!

Plaza Too and Prada Party, NYC Fashion Week

It is September again in NYC, which in the fashion world means everyone is gearing up for Sept fashion week in NYC! On Thursday, Sept 10th, my first stop was at the Plaza Too retail store in the West Village at 571 Hudson Street. Thomas Mendes, founder of Plaza Too hosted "Another Fashion Night Out Party." My friend Walt met me there and I enjoyed complimentary champagne as well as meeting some cool people. If you are looking for sexy shoes and handbags head here!

After Plaza Too, we made a pit stop at a Chinese restaurant to eat and then headed to another fashion party at the Prada store in Soho. We got there perfect timing, right before the group Rapture performed! This was my first time seeing them live. I was impressed, they are great live and their music is upbeat and fun! Lots of people in the front row were dancing including me.:)

The article talks about the versatility of a ponytail; the fact that you can wear it casually with just a tank top on or in formal attire with a tux. In this pic to the left, Jennifer Aniston is wearing a tux with her hair back in a ponytail. Her hair stylist, Chris McMillan explains to achieve this look, sleek at the sides with volume at the top, you start with a low ponytail, tighten with an elastic, split the tail in two and pull both ends to tighten the sides and loosten the roots.

What I would have done differently is replaced the plain old elastic with a Di Manno Designs black patent pony narrow with this look.

In Sept 2009 issue of In Style Magazine, there is an article on ponytail hairstyles: Hair and Now Tighten Your Tie. They show pics of Megan Fox, Lucy Liu, Molly Sims and Christina Ricci in sleek ponytail looks, saying "Messy, undone ponytails are so 2007." They say to achieve the sleek ponytail look, like Megan Fox has in the pic above, gather your hair back at ear height, secure with an elastic, and smooth the sides. JC Penney Store Opening Event in NYC

Friday, July 31, 2009 JC Penney made a big splash in NYC unveiling their new and first flagship store in Greeley Square. All day there was a runway set up outside across the street from the store, where they had fashion shows of their latest trends, trivia and give aways.

Brenda Versoza of Soza Models co-hosted the accessories give aways on the stage. She modeled bags, hats and sunglasses and then cheered on various audience members who came up to strut their stuff on stage and win the prize! Way to go Brenda!

Jorge Ramon, NYC celebrity stylist hosted the fashion shows on the runway. He styled all the models that were in the fashion show and announced all the outfits on the models who walked the runway showing all the latest styles from JC Penney and designers. Great job Jorge! You can currently check out Jorge on a show called The Look on mun2 network and also as a judge on SiTV's Model Latina.

How to Wear a Fishtail Braid Style

Just wanted to share the "behind the scenes" with you before Di Manno Designs was launched.
My mother, Carmela Di Manno (in this pic) played a big role in helping me make my first few samples to give to my manufacturer. My aunt, Giuseppina Capraro also helped out, as she was spending Easter 2008 with us at my mom and dad's new home in South Carolina. I brought the leathers and python skin home with the strongest elastic bands I could find and they helped me to make samples.

A little history:
They both came to America from Cassino Italy when they were in their mid 20's. My mom worked for Dittrich Furs in Detroit MI for over 30 years managing a shop of seamstresses, who were all mostly Sicilian with a couple of Greeks thrown in there! lol I actually worked at Dittrich's for a little bit one summer when I was home from school. I helped out in the Shipping Department, packing boxes and storing fur coats. My sister and I used to go visit my mom at work sometimes when we were little. I used to love hopping on the rolling racks, going for little rides around the shop. I also used to like hiding in the long fur coats! lol Seems so silly, but looking back, I realize that without even knowing it then, my time spent there helped me to distinguish between different fabrics and furs, which I never expected to use, but the knowledge now is appreciated with my company! Also, I think with my trips to visit family in Rome and growing up with 2 full blooded Italians, (My dad is from Rome, Italy), I was always around good quality Italian clothing, leather and fabrics which made me appreciate good quality clothing and accessories from an early age. Being 100% Italian, I think "good fashion" tends to be instilled in you! I always loved wearing my mom's old outfits and my dad's old hats. I actually still enjoy wearing them! I always look forward going to Italy to check out the new fashions!

My aunt cooked at an elementary school in Woodhaven and on the side would make dresses for people. She actually made many of my dresses for parties and graduation. It was fun, I was able to design my own dress and she would make it exactly how I asked. She is great! I was so proud of my high school graduation outfit because it was unique, exactly what I wanted and I knew I wouldn't have the problem of showing up to a party with the same dress on as someone else since this was not sold in the stores! It was a creme silk half top that crossed in a V in the front and flowy creme silk pants to match. I paired it with a gold belt. Thanks Zia Giuseppina for all of my dresses growing up!:)

So with the both of them who are blessed in the sewing department, we cut and stitched the samples together, some by hand and some with the help of a sewing machine. Thanks ladies! :) I felt lucky to have them to help because I would not have been able to do it on my own. Of course I could have paid someone, but it is special to know that my family played an important role in the making of the Di Manno Designs prototype.

I am so thankful to have my mom and dad in my life. They are the greatest, most generous and loving parents I know. They have supported me unconditionally in all of my endeavors. My mom is the first person I call when I want advice or an opinion on making a business decision. She is wise and I am thankful she is here to help me with my company. She has never given bad advice so I value what she says very strongly. Everyone who knows me personally, knows I am a "daddy's girl" so Giuseppe (my dad in this pic) and I do not have the serious talks too much, but I absolutely love him to pieces and adore just being around him to hang and to laugh. They do say laughing is good for the soul:)

My mom is right...my ambition comes from her and my silly goofy side comes from my dad. I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for the wisdom and strength mom and dad thanks for the laughs and all the joy!

Hi,

Just wanted to write a blog post about a close friend of mine, Kristen Winnicki who has been in my life for a few years now on a weekly basis. I wanted her in my Di Manno Designs group shot, but unfortunately, she wasn't able to make my shoot date, she was on vacation.

Kristen and I met working a trade show together years ago for Tru Fitness. We bonded over 3 days, 8 hours a day, switching every 15 minutes either on a tread mill or in a stretch cage where we had to demonstrate different types of stretches with guys crowding around the cage trying to see if they could look up our work out shorts! lol We had no idea what we signed up for! We thought we were just going to have to demonstrate the equipment, but after 3 full days of working out, we were both about to fall over!

We kept in touch after the show and started to hang out. We are known as the Thursday happy hour girls. We love going out early and getting home early! Kristen has offered me valuable advice on Di Manno Designs. I always look for her thoughts and opinions on decisions I make because she is an entrepreneur herself. She used to co own a hat company that had celebrity clientele and now she does work as a spokesmodel and is looking to start another company soon.

She is a breath of fresh air to talk to with her positive nature and intelligent mind. She has offered me great insight on all my marketing materials and web site. She also stopped by Henri Bendel when I was doing a trunk show there to help me out for a little while for free! That's a great friend! Kristen is also the person who introduced me to Collective-E, the entrepreneur group that I am part of, which has been so inspiring and so helpful. She took me to their launch party, where I joined the group! Thanks Kristen for all your support. Love you:)

The Meaning Behind the Di Manno Designs Group Shot

Just in case you were wondering who all these people are in this shot, I wanted to fill you in.

When I decided to do a photo shoot, after launching my wristband and headband collection, I wanted to do a group shot of everyone wearing my accessories and I wanted to do it with friends. Hiring models was an option, but I wanted there to be meaning to it. I wanted the people who have been my support system, my closest friends, who have been here with me from the start of me launching Di Manno Designs in the shot. These are the people in my life who have been here for me on a weekly basis seeing the progress of my company, all of it, the ups and the downs! They have all offered me great advice and have been tremendously helpful in assisting me with great ideas for Di Manno Designs.

Yonit Miller and I became close a couple years ago, I think mainly because we had the same needs, we loved to hang out, go out and meet new people, so we pretty much did just that every weekend. We bonded when I went to spend the weekend with her, her mom and her dad in the Poconos. We would talk ourselves to sleep, which is a wonder for me, because I usually have to watch TV before bed! lol We also spent a weekend in Miami together at her brothers where we celebrated her b day. She has been a school teacher for 8 years in NYC and recently just moved to San Francisco to start a new chapter of her life with a guy she met and fell in love with in Cabo when we went last summer together! Goes to show you never know when or where you will find love:) I will miss her dearly, but am planning on going to visit her soon! Angela Di Manno, right next to her is my sister who I live with in NYC. We have been living together for about 8 years now! She is the person who knows me the most since she is family so I always know I can count on her for honest, real advice. She works at Mt Sinai in the psych unit and also sees clients privately on the side for therapy sessions. She is great at what she does. Tori Famuyiwa and I have been close friends for a few years now. We met because we were always at the same parties and just started a friendship from there. We were roommates on a Royal Carribean cruise we took with some friends and have fond memories of all of our times together. We always seem to laugh and enjoy ourselves wherever we are. Tori is a stylist who styles shoots here in NYC. He also does beautiful unique, handcrafted memory/scrap books. If you are looking for something like this for a special occasion, let me know, they are wonderful. I already told him he is doing mine for my wedding when ever that is! lol He was the stylist for this shoot. Walt is a close friend I have known for a long time, since my University of Miami college days, where we hung out and even went on a road trip to Mardi Gras together with some friends. When I moved to NYC, he was one of the only people I knew here. He is completely genuine, laid back and has been helpful no matter which industry I am in! He does consulting work for companies in NYC. We actually had the photo shoot at his loft in Soho. Thanks Walt for hooking it up!:) He is wearing the Black Leather Wristband in this shot.

Zivile Rezgyte and I became friends a couple of years ago. We actually met at a Soho loft party that I went to with Walt. She knew him as well, he introduced us and we talked all night, realizing we had a lot of the same values. She is from Lithuania, used to be a professional gymnast, lives in NYC and works in residential real estate. If you need a house in Queens, let me know! We have been hanging out every week since we met. Just was with her this past weekend in the hamptons for July 4th. Juan Castro I have known since University of Miami as well. We lived in the same dormitory together freshman year. We spent a lot of time together then and have been inseparable ever since he moved to NYC about 4 years together. We have even managed to live in the same buildings in NYC! lol We love to laugh together a lot, so we pretty much have fun doing that wherever we are. Juan has assisted with booking at companies like Wilhelmina, has been in the financial industry as well as sales. He also loves dogs, so if you need a dog walker, let me know! Brenda Versoza and I met years ago while I was doing a liquor promotion at a bar with a friend of hers. She started a model staffing company at that time, which I did some work for and then awhile after she launched Soza Models, a model staffing company with her partner Rich. We have had many good times together, including a trip to Miami, which was her b day gift to me a few years back. She moved to Tampa, FL with her love and has been there for 2 years now. She visits NY a lot, since her main office is here, so we get to see each other quite often. She is the one who inspired me to come up with the concept of Di Manno Designs. I was helping her move out of her apartment in West Village, over a bottle of wine, I told her I wanted to have my own company, she suggested I think of my daily routine and see if there was anything I wanted or needed...I did that one day while getting an acupuncture treatment and it was then that I came up with an idea for a leather covered ponytail holder because I was so sick of wearing my hair back in an elastic band! Thanks B:)

Just wanted to give you some ideas of how Di Manno Designs ponytail holders can be used.

The most popular ponytail hairstyle I see is the low ponytail, which is a basic, clean and classic look. You can also do a high ponytail, which gives a very cutting-edge, sleek look or a low side ponytail which gives a soft and sexy look. You can also do pigtails which is both fun and sexy or do a low braid ponytail, or pigtail braids. Pigtail ponytail holders have to be custom ordered.

So this Monday I brought some of my friends to the new hot spot Avenue on 10th Avenue and 17th St. There was a complimentary bar at a private event. Lester Carter, Nightlife Marketing Manager of Empire Merchants invited me and asked me to also invite my friends, so I did!

Mondays are a tough night to go out, but it was an early event, so we all went and enjoyed the drinks and the beautiful lounge. There were a few drink options on the menu some of which included: Martini & Rossi Rose champagne, the Mojitos made with Bacardi Bacardi Superior and Bacardi Dragonberry and a pineapple mixed drink made with Grey Goose La Poire Vodka.

Dos Equis Party, Thursday, June 18th at Broad Street Ballroom

Had a detour last night, instead of One Oak for the Le Book party, went to the Dos Equis party at the Broad Street Ballroom at 41 Broad St. Beautiful space! Dos Equis beer was complimentary all night and they had tons of entertainment and appetizers floating around. Of course I opted for the popcorn and pop chips over the python and alligator appetizers! Different parties were on different floors, downstairs there was a pool party with Soza Models throwing around a football, main ballroom demonstration Bear Grylls and on the 8th floor were different rooms with different themes: Barber Shop, Bout of the Black Belts, Dr Sketchy Drawing Room, Titans of Table Tennis, Edible Entomology, Bravado of Billiards and Bhangra Lounge. They were also having a later party on the 9th floor and the roof where there were Birds of Prey and Reptiles. Mirrorball produced the event and Soza Models were staffed for the event.

In the top picture is Nicola with Soza Models and I. She was towering over me so I bent down to take the pic to make the height difference even more drastic! lol

Le Book Party at Glass House, Wednesday, June 17th

Iattended the Le Book Connections show yesterday at the Chelsea Art Museum with Sean Finnegan of Soza Models and then later went to their party at Glass House in West Chelsea. Space is beautiful, as you can imagine, all glass and great views of the city.

I was helping my best friend Brenda, with Soza Models as Soza staff was working both events. I learned that Le Book brings together many agencies at the show that represent photographers, sylists, illustrators etc. It is a great way for companies to get ideas of what to do and who to book for their next big campaign.

Going to another Le Book party this evening at One Oak...stay tuned!

Ideas for Dressing up your Outfit with Di Manno Designs Accessories

Hi,

Just wanted to create some visuals, since I usually find it helpful, when thinking of what to wear and on top of that, what accessories to pair it with!

If your style is more classic chic, I would recommend going with solid leather, patent leather, python, blac croc and crystal. For casual attire with a pair of jeans and a top, if you are just hanging and want to throw your hair back just a basic leather pony and/or head band will do. I like to wear my basic black pony with a pair of jeans, casual cute tee and tennis shoes when I am running errands.

If you are more of a rock star girl (or guy) and want to add a little funk to your look, I like wearing the crystal and/or studded wrist bands out. You can wear then with a pair of simple jeans, cute top, throw on the black brass studded (one of my favorites) wrist cuff and headband and it adds a whole other element to the outfit. I also wear my studded collection with a tailored black skirt and top. I have a pair of black pants from BCBG that have this cool satin ribbon design up and down the leg, I like to wear my black crystal covered wrist band with it and a simple black tank. I let the wrist cuff dress it up! The other day I wore a cute little purple dress and put on my white brass studded wrist band and head band on with it with a pair of brass wedges from DKNY. With the same purple dress, I have also worn the white crystal covered pony and wrist band with it, or both!

For the sporty girl, I would recommend the canvas ponies. Now that it is summer, they are perfect to throw on with a bikini when laying out by the pool or with a jean skirt and tank.

The white and denim bows are my favorite. I like my jean skirt, white flowy tube top with one of the bows in my hair. And the cool thing is, you don't have to be afraid to get it wet! It is not leather, so feel free to jump in the pool or go in the ocean with them on!:) Or if you are an active girl, wear a canvas pony to the gym while working out or while out for a run or playing tennis.

She explains some of the reasons is to have flexibility in your schedule, a necessity to have an extra income and to have a control on your destiny. She says "Entrepreneurship is the New Black"

I loved when she said, while speaking about how being persistent is important, "Rome wasn't built in a day" and "PR is a marathon not a sprint" So true. It is so easy, especially if you have an impatient nature, to get a little frazzled wondering why things may not be happening as quickly as you want them to. So hearing this was a nice reminder that sometimes businesses just take some time to take off.

I attended a very interesting Enterprise Forum panel yesterday: Learning the Secrets of Successful Women Entrepreneurs In a Down Economy. I love going to panels because I always leave knowing more than I did when I walked in.
I just wanted to share something I learned last night. If you are an entrepreneur looking for an investor, you are not able to team up with a venture capitalist if you have received a SBA (Small Business Administration) loan. This piece of information is an eye opener for me because I am thinking about applying for a loan and even though I am not thinking of pursuing investors at this time, it will definitely factor into my decision making process if and when I apply for a loan.

Information on Custom Orders

Just wanted to let you know, that if a Di Manno Designs pony or wrist band doesn't fit you, I am able to do custom orders. I just did a custom order for a lady I met at the Shecky's show. She bought a black croc pony narrow and was hoping when she straightened her hair (she has super thick hair) it would fit. It didn't, so I just had my manufacturer make her one that would fit. There is an extra $5 charge for custom orders. I didn't want to get into different sizes when I first made the pony. I tried the pony on several different people from thick to thin hair, and to my surprise the 5 inches long looked good on everyone. 5 inches long does fit the majority of people, but if you find you try one on and it doesn't, shoot me an email and I can make one just for you!

To my surprise I have spoken with quite a few straight males that said they want to "rock a wrist band"...and not just in black leather! Di Manno Designs now has wrist bands available for all seasons. . They are available in 4 different collections: Leather, Patent Leather, Exotic Skin and Crystal made with Crystallized ™-Swarovski Elements.

They are approx. 8 inches in length and have 2 sets of snaps at the end for size adjustment. The snaps are silver.

The wrist bands are very versatile you can wear it with fancy attire or dress up a simple pair of jeans. Interview with Carol Williamson, District Sales Manager at Swarovski

When I decided to use Swarovski's branding for my crystal ponytail holders and later added the crystal wrist bands made with Crystallized ™-Swarovski Elements, I met with Carol and she walked me through the steps of obtaining authorization to use the branding. I am happy I took the time to do so because everyone knows of Swarovski and respects the reputation the name and brand upholds. Carol was very helpful and eager in assisting me to get approval to use their branding. I just attended a presentation to see their new colors, cuts and trends for Spring/Summer. Very inspiring! What is your title and how long have you been working at Swarovski?

My title is District Sales Manager and on June 1st it will be my 10-year anniversary. I was the first sales person hired. Before the year 2000 we were exclusively distributed through resellers.

Where do the crystals come from?

Crystal is a man made material. The basic ingredients are heated at a high temperature and cooled in molds. The cooling process makes the colors. The stones are then machine cut for perfect brilliance.

What would you say sets Swarovski superior to other crystal companies?

We have the highest Quality of crystal stones. All our stones are fully machine cut. Other crystals are partially cut or “pressed” or “fire polished” or not cut at all. We have the largest Variety of stones and the most Innovative cuts. Our patent cut is called a Xillion cut which has wider and narrow facets on the sides and a smaller tabletop, which currently make them the most Brilliant stones on the market. We have the largest color assortment with the smallest tolerance levels for size and color shade.

How many times a year does Swarovski come out with new crystals?

We launch our new products twice a year following the trends of the season. Fall/Winter is launched in September and spring /summer is launched in February.

Why did Swarovski choose Crystallized ™-Swarovski Elements as the new logo?

Our division of component parts needed to be differentiated from our retail stores. It was becoming confusing in the market and we have opened many more divisions. The word Crystallized is a variation of Crystal. Swarovski is the name most people are familiar with and we describe our parts as elements. The word elements opens the mind for different uses. Not just for jewelry or clothing.

What are the benefits Swarovski gets from having different companies use the Swarovski branding and what companies can get authorized from Swarovski to use their branding?

Any company that has a brand and uses 100% Crystallized-Swarovski Elements is eligible to use the brand. For most brands it is used as a sign that the best crystal was used to make the product. This is a way the end consumer is noticing that we are not just figurines.

What would you say has been the greatest thing you have learned at Swarovski?

I enjoy how our company keeps up with the trends and makes new innovations to adapt to the trends. It’s like being in a race that never ends. I like constantly evolving. There is never a dull moment and work doesn’t get stale.

Collective-E, A Place to Go to be Inspired

A few months ago I joined Collective-E as a core member when they had their launch party in NYC. I have to say it has been one of the best investments I've made. I had a good feeling about it that night and the feeling just keeps getting better every time I meet with the women in the group whether it is at a meeting or taking a class. Collective-E is a women entrepreneur group, a "support group," where you can network, ask questions, share ideas , take classes and just be INSPIRED. There are different levels of membership. They periodically hold Wisdom Socials where members can get together and discuss their business and goals, which has been so helpful in getting ideas about how to handle my business more efficiently. I get so inspired by hearing some of the other women's success stories... and that is such a great feeling! Some of the other perks, besides being inspired are: you can market yourself and your business on their website, showcasing new products or services on the "Just Debuted" section, have access to their PR leads as a member, take classes to learn and grow your business and ask questions or have discussions on the forums. Katie Hellmuth Martin and Sabina Ptacin are all lovely, positive, good people who genuinely want to help you with your business. They all come with different business backgrounds that they bring to the table, which is one of the reasons, I think Collective-E works so well.

So if you are feeling like you are overwhelmed with your business, don't know how to get started or how to continue with it or would like a creativity and inspirational boost, this is the group to join to move forward building your brand and business into a successful one.

Bestow Boutique's Cheeky Rumba Knickers

I figured I would start a "Stef's Favorite Things" category so I can share some of my favorite things with you. I just received my black Cheeky Rumba Knickers I ordered from Bestow Boutique. I must say, they are adorable with all of the ruffles! I think they would look great paired with a black corset.
Bestow is a unique gift, personal accessories and decorative home boutique. I also love the Oversized Crystal Necklace and the Gold Beaded Purse. If you are looking to buy candles or soaps as a gift, their packaging is super cute. Are the zebra ponytail holders made with real zebra fur?

One question that I have gotten a few times is: "Are the zebra ponytail holders made with real zebra fur?" The answer is no, they are not. The only real skin in my exotic skin collection is the python. So for the zebra, leopard and black croc, they are all made with genuine leather that is embossed with the print. All accessories are made in the USA. The same applies for the exotic skin wrist bands. That's it for now. Feel free to ask me any questions!

How do the ponytail holders work?

Hi Rachel,

Yes, the ponytail holders have an elastic band that is attached to the leather covering that goes around your hair and snaps to hold it in place. On the website http://www.dimannodesigns.com/, there is a "how to" page where you can see a picture of the inside of the pony.

Depending on the thickness of your hair will determine how many times you twirl the elastic around before you snap the leather covering together. I twirl mine 3 times for a nice tight ponytail. Hope this helps! Have a good evening, Stefany
